South Fork Nooksack closes to all fishing

Action: Closes a portion of the South Fork Nooksack River to all fishing.

Effective dates: June 9 through Sept. 30, 2017.

Species affected: All species.

Location: South Fork Nooksack from the mouth to Skookum Creek.

Reason for action: This action implements rules to protect chinook salmon recently adopted during North of Falcon regulation process.

Other information: Significant rule changes have occurred on the South Fork Nooksack for gamefish and salmon. The 2017-18 WDFW "Fishing in Washington" rules pamphlet will be available soon on the department's website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regulations/ and at sporting goods stores in late June. Anglers can also check the list of agreed to salmon fisheries on WDFW's North of Falcon website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/northfalcon/.
