The South Fork Nooksack opens to fishing

Action: Reopens the South Fork Nooksack reach previously closed to all fishing

Species affected: All species.

Location: South Fork Nooksack River from the Saxon Bridge to Skookum Creek.

Effective dates: Oct. 1, 2016

Reasons for action: Wild chinook, and chinook from the recovery program at Skookum Hatchery in South Fork Nooksack will have completed spawning by Oct. 1. Therefore the salmon seasons will open on the usual date, and gamefish seasons will reopen.

Other information: Angling for all species will reopen as listed in the Sport Fishing Rules 2016/2017 pamphlet edition, FISHING IN WASHINGTON.

Anglers are reminded that the South Fork Nooksack from Skookum Creek to Wanlick Creek remains closed by permanent rules.
