Sport clam season closed at Rendsland Creek

December 16, 2004

Action: The sport clam-fishing season at Rendsland Creek is closed until further notice.

Effective date: Jan. 1, 2005.

Species affected: All clams, except razor clams.

Location: Rendsland Creek, located in Mason County on the east side of Hood Canal.

Reason for action: Rendsland Creek was open to clam harvest in 2004 from Jan. 1 through May 31. Recent surveys indicate a decrease in the clam population which will not permit this beach to open for clam harvest in 2005. The beach will remain open year-round for sport oyster harvest.
