Sport clam season closes at Belfair State Park

Action: The sport clam fishing season at Belfair State Park is closed until further notice.

Effective date: Jan. 11, 2010 until further notice.

Species affected: All clams.

Location: Belfair State Park is located in Mason County in southern Hood Canal.

Reason for action: Surveys indicate that the clam population will not support a recreational harvest in 2010. The recreational oyster season remains open in the health-approved portion of the park all year.
