Sport clam seasosn to open April 1 at Dosewallips State Park

Action: The sport clam-harvesting season at Dosewallips State Park will be open April 1 through Sept. 30, 2008.

Effective date: April 1, 2008.

Species affected: All clams.

Location: Dosewallips State Park, only in area defined by boundary markers and signs posted on the beach. The park is located in Jefferson County on the west side of Hood Canal.

Reason for action: Last year's clam season at Dosewallips State Park opened on May 15, but surveys show an increase in the clam population that will support a longer season beginning April 1. This extended season was approved by the Fish & Wildlife Commission at their February 2008 meeting.
