Sport clam season to open at West Dewatto

December 16, 2004

Action: The sport clam-fishing season at West Dewatto (DNR 44-A) will open January 1, 2005 through April 15, 2005.

Effective date: January 1, 2005 through April 15, 2005.

Species affected: All clams, except razor clams.

Location: West Dewatto (DNR 44-A), located in Mason County on the east side of Hood Canal.

Reason for action: West Dewatto (DNR 44-A) was closed to sport clam harvest in 2004 due to a reduced clam population. Recent surveys indicate an increased clam population that will allow this beach to open January 1 through April 15, 2005. The beach will remain open year-round for oyster harvest.
