Sport clam season opened at Rendsland Creek

December 19, 2005

Action: The sport clam fishing season at Rendsland Creek is opened Jan. 1, 2006 through May 31, 2006.

Effective date: Jan. 1, 2006 through May 31, 2006.

Species affected: All clams, except razor clams.

Location: Rendsland Creek, located in Mason County on the east side of Hood Canal.

Reason for action: Rendsland Creek was closed to sport clam harvest in 2005 due to a reduced clam population. Recent surveys indicate an increased clam population which will allow this beach to open Jan. 1 through May 31. The beach will remain open year-round for oyster harvest.
