Sport clam season opened at South Indian Island County Park

March 10, 2004

Action: The sport clam fishing season at South Indian Island County Park is opened April 1, 2004 through June 30, 2004.

Effective date: April 1, 2004 through June 30, 2004.

Species affected: All clams, except razor clams.

Location: South Indian Island County Park in Jefferson County.

Reason for action: South Indian Island County Park was closed to sport clam harvest in 2003 to compensate for over-harvest in 2002 and a reduced clam population. Surveys indicate an increased clam population, which will allow this beach to re-open April 1.
