Sport clam season opens early at Dosewallips State Park

February 13, 2014

Action: Opens the sport clam fishing season early.

Effective date: March 1, 2014 until further notice.

Species affected: All clams.

Location: Dosewallips State Park. This beach is located in Jefferson County on Hood Canal.

Reason for action: Surveys indicate that the clam population on this beach can support a season of the same length as last year. The earlier opening date provides a more continuous recreational clamming opportunity in the Hood Canal area, particularly with this year’s closure of nearby Point Whitney Tidelands. Oyster season at Dosewallips State Park remains open year-round.
