Sport halibut season opens April 23 in
Marine Areas 6-11 and13

Action: Open recreational fishing for halibut in Puget Sound.

Effective date: Open 12:01 a.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009 through 11:59 p.m. June 5, 2009; five days per week, closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Species affected: Pacific halibut.

Location: Marine Areas 6-11 and 13 (Area 12 remains closed).

Reason for action: This rule conforms to federal action taken by Pacific Fisheries Management Council. The Puget Sound recreational halibut quota is sufficient to cover these dates.

Other Information: There is a daily bag limit of one halibut per angler, with no minimum size limit. All catch must be recorded on a Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife catch record card. The possession limit is two daily limits of halibut in any form, except the possession limit aboard the fishing vessel is one daily limit.
