Spring chinook adult retention allowed
on upper Klickitat River beginning June 1, 2003

Action: Modify the daily limit to six salmon, no more than two adults.

Effective date: June 1 through July 31, 2003.

Species affected: Chinook salmon

Location: Klickitat River from 400' upstream from fishway #5 to boundary markers below Klickitat Salmon Hatchery.

Reason for action: Spring chinook returns to Klickitat Salmon Hatchery have been strong and the hatchery escapement goal is expected to be reached in the next few days.

Other information: Salmon minimum size is 12 inches. Any chinook, with or without an adipose fin intact, may be retained.

Under permanent regulations, the area from the mouth upstream to the Fisher Hill Bridge will also open for salmon fishing seven days per week beginning June 1. The daily limit in this river section is also six salmon, but no more than two adults.
