Trout bonus limit at the Rock Island Ponds

Action: The daily limit for trout has been temporarily been increased from 5 to 15 trout per day at the Rock Island Ponds

Species affected: Trout

Location: Rock Island; includes Pitt, Putters, Hammond and Big Bow Lakes

Effective dates: October 1 until December 31, 2006 or until further notice.

Reason for action: To provide the public the opportunity to harvest an unexpected surplus of hatchery reared cutthroat trout. These fish must be stocked this fall due to water and space limitations at the hatchery.

Other Information: Over winter survival and fish quality will suffer if the trout are allowed to remain in the ponds until next spring. The expanded limit will allow anglers to utilize these fish white they are still in good condition.

Information contact: Art Viola (509) 665-3337 or the Wenatchee office (509) 662-0452.
