Trout fishing in the South Pond at Bogachiel Hatchery extended

August 25, 2017

Action: Extends the opening of the South Pond at Bogachiel Hatchery to trout fishing. The South Pond holds hatchery rainbow trout and may receive surplus steelhead returning to the Bogachiel hatchery. The pond will remain open 7 days per week, the daily bag limit will be the statewide standard of 5 trout, and other statewide regulations apply.

Effective date: Aug. 26 through Dec. 23, 2017.

Species affected: Hatchery Rainbow trout.

Location: The Bogachiel Hatchery South Pond.

Reason for action: Because of restrictions to general public access to Wentworth Lake, hatchery trout normally planted into Wentworth Lake are being planted in the South Pond at Bogachiel Hatchery to provide an opportunity for anglers.
