Waters above and below
Salmon Creek fish trap now closed

Action: Waters 200 feet below and 200 feet above the adult fish trap on Salmon Creek are closed.

Effective dates: Immediately through March 15, 2010.

Species affected: All game fish, salmon

Location: Salmon Creek (Clark County)

Reasons for action: This rule change is needed to close the waters above and below the adult fish trap where employees and volunteers operate the trap and handle migrating fish to keep anglers a safe distance from the operating trap.

Other information: Research on Salmon Creek began in the fall of 2008 and will continue through the winter to determine fish passage through the newly constructed roughened channel under the Highway 99 Bridge. The trap allows for the safe passage of floating objects such as boats. However, the area directly around the trap is CLOSED and posted with NO TRESPASSING signs for the safety of anglers and the general public.
