Wild coho release required on Wind River

Action: Wild coho must be released on the Wind River.

Effective dates: September 3 through October 31, 2005

Species affected: Wild coho

Location: Wind River from mouth to 100 feet upstream of Shipherd Falls.

Reasons for action: Lower Columbia River wild coho are listed as threatened under the federal Endangered Species Act. This action will create a selective fishery for hatchery coho while protecting the wild component of the run.

Other information: All other fishing regulations pertaining to fishing in the Wind River listed in the 2005/2005 Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet remain in effect.
