Action: Restores salmon and steelhead angling to permanent rules for the Wind River and Drano Lake, as described in the 2019-2020 Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet; all other permanent rules remain in effect.
Effective date: June 18, 2020.
Species affected: Salmon and steelhead.
Locations:
Wind River: From the mouth to 800 yards downstream of Carson National Fish Hatchery; the mouth is defined by the buoy line markers south of the Highway 14 bridge.
Drano Lake: In the waters downstream of markers on point of land downstream and across from Little White Salmon National Fish Hatchery and upstream of the Highway 14 bridge.
Reason for action: The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife closed the Wind River and Drano Lake to salmon and steelhead angling earlier this month to provide additional broodstock for hatcheries in the Columbia and Snake River basins that can utilize "Carson stock" spring Chinook in their programs. Fishery co-managers have indicated that the broodstock collection needs for these programs have been met at Carson and Little White Salmon National Fish Hatcheries, therefore continued closure of the salmon and steelhead fisheries is no longer needed.
