Various streams in the upper Yakima Basin have been surveyed for the presence of bull trout Bull trout (Salvelinus confluentus) and numbers of redds since 1984. A wide variety of habitat and behavioral information has been observed and recorded from each day's survey. These were recorded in a variety of formats ranging from informal one page summary reports to daily notes recorded in a field notebook. Habitat information such as water temperatures, water flow, as well as significant geomorphic changes such as landslides are documented. These notes represent a rich resource for documenting habitat fluctuations over a wide time span in the Yakima Basin.
PDFs of each year's field notes or summary tables are available from the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife (Fish Management Division). For further information contact WDFW district fish biologist Eric Anderson 509-457-9301 or Greg Lippert (Information Tech Specialist) 360-902-2798.
