Eagle - Lower

Lower Eagle sits in a serene wooded setting. The Westslope Cutthroat Trout are plentiful and the fishing is excellent for fish up to 10 inches in length. Quite a bit of the shoreline has long grasses growing, but some shore fishing is possible. Well established campsites are available. This is a multi-use area shared by hikers, mountain bikes, horseback riders, and motorcycles (which must stop well short of the lakes.)

Getting here:

Take Gold Creek Loop Road from SR153 (17m north of Pateros). In 1m turn left on 1034; continue onto FS#4340 (turns to dirt road). At ~5.4m turn left on FS#300 and drive 4.6m to trailhead at 4700'. Large parking area available, accomodates horse trailers. Trail #431 starts across from the parking lot - hike 0.7 miles to the 1st junction and stay left for the Eagle lakes. Continue past 2 other junctions and at approx 4.5 miles drop down the now unmaintained trail to Lower Eagle lake
