Lost Lake (Chelan County)

Lost Lake offers good Westslope Cutthroat Trout  fishing and beautiful scenery but the access trail is steep, rugged, and not maintained. If you find Merritt Lake to be too crowded head over the ridge to Lost. From Merritt Lake follow the trail 300 vertical feet to an unmarked junction. A well used way trail continues another 250 vertical feet to the top of the ridge before dropping 600 steep feet to the lake. Early in the season snow hangs on  portions of the trail and melting stream water turns the route into a waterfall. See the Merritt Lake entry for a description of the trail to Merritt Lake.

Getting here:

From Everett head east on US Hwy 2 for 65 miles to Stevens Pass. Continue east for another 11.3 miles turning left onto Forest Road 657 (near mile post 76). From Leavenworth head west on US 2 for 23 miles. Proceed 1.6 miles on FR 657, reaching the trailhead at the end of the road.
