Starzman Lake Upper

Located on BLM property eight (8) miles north of Brewster off Northstar Road.  The road and surrounding area was heavily impacted by the 2014 wildfires making access challenging.  Most anglers opt to hike in the final quarter mile rather than risk bottoming out their four wheel drive vehicle.  Rainbow or triploid eastern brook trout fingerling plants yearly.  Well suited for float tubes and/or shore access.  Angling has been difficult as a result of the rapid aquatic weed growth in the lake since the 2014 wildfires.

Fishing prospects calendar

Rainbow trout

Fishing success for Rainbow Trout is generally best in the spring when thousands of fish are stocked statewide, but they can be caught year-round in most waters with a little patience and persistence. Success remains high into June and gradually declines as water temperatures increase and fish move offshore to stay cool. Fish that escaped the spring harvest return to the nearshore areas in the fall as waters cool off. Some waters may also be stocked again in the fall further boosting catch rates.
