Medical Lake

Season opens March 1st and continues through November 30th  This is a very popular lake for flyfishing. Selective gear rules apply so be sure to check the regulations pamphlet for special size limits. In March, April and May this lake has consistent insect hatches that make flyfishing productive.  The late closure in November can make for an excellent opportunity to fish brown trout in the late fall.  If you like to catch large trout this is a lake you should investigate.  Please keep in mind that the boat launch is owned and maintained by the City of Medical Lake and that all types of motors are prohibited on this lake.

Fishing prospects calendar

Rainbow trout

Fishing success for Rainbow Trout is generally best in the spring when thousands of fish are stocked statewide, but they can be caught year-round in most waters with a little patience and persistence. Success remains high into June and gradually declines as water temperatures increase and fish move offshore to stay cool. Fish that escaped the spring harvest return to the nearshore areas in the fall as waters cool off. Some waters may also be stocked again in the fall further boosting catch rates.
