Summary of proposed rule
The Department is considering changes to its rules that govern public records. The purpose of the proposed rule is to provide guidance to the public concerning the costs of providing public records on the body worn cameras in use by the WDFW law enforcement officers. It will also clarify administrative procedures that will not change the effect of the current rule.
Scope and rationale for proposed rule
The department needs to its update rules to accommodate the recent implementation of the WDFW Enforcement Program's use of body-worn cameras as well as other administrative requirements. The department previously undertook a Fee Study in 2024 to research the reasonable costs for producing requested records on this subject.
This is an Expedited rule making that amends rules in WAC chapter 220-120.
