2025 Hunting Regulations: Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD)

Rule-making status: Pending
Rule-making reference: #P2024-16C

Summary of proposed rule

As part of its 2025 hunting rule project, the department seeks to amend Wildlife rules to address the spread of CWD that has been detected in the state.

Scope and rationale for proposed rule

CWD threatens the health and well-being of deer, elk and moose populations in the state. The department needs to amend hunting rules to combat and reduce the spread of this disease.

The department is amending selected rules in WAC chapters 220-400, 220-413 and 220-414.
