Fishing Guide Advisory Group

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) formed the Fishing Guide Advisory Group in 2019 to increase communication with the industry. One of the group's first tasks was to help advise the agency on the new guide logbook reporting requirement in order to make it as simple and user-friendly as possible while preserving the Fish and Wildlife Commission's goals of gathering critical data on where and how guide businesses operate in Washington. The Committee helps agency staff develop annual progress reports to the Commission based on logbook reports and provides important feedback to the agency on regulations, compliance and communication with the broader industry.

At the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, we celebrate diverse individuals who bring a wide range of perspectives. All are welcome to participate in our processes regardless of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, status as a veteran, and basis of disability.

Mission statement

The Fishing Guide Advisory Group provides recommendations to the department with the objective of:

  • Increasing communication and quality of information shared between WDFW and the guide industry, and
  • providing input on laws, regulations, licensing structure and management decisions impacting the guide industry.
