Summary of proposed rule
The department is considering a number of changes to hunting rules as part of its 2025 Season Setting rule proposal. Rule changes involve multi-season deer and elk tags, deer and elk special permits, bighorn sheep and mountain goat special permits and migratory gamebird seasons.
Scope and rationale for proposed rule
The department maintains and establishes recreational hunting seasons, bag limits, and geographic boundary descriptions consistent with its legislative mandate to provide sustainable recreational hunting opportunities for all citizens. These proposed changes result from Wildlife staff recommendations that cover a variety of topics such as updating calendar dates, clarifying rules and adjusting recreational opportunities to maintain sustainable game populations.
For the 2025 hunting season, the department proposes amendments to rules in WAC chapters 220-412 through 220-416 WAC.
