Vice Chair Douvia called the meeting to order at 8:33 a.m.

A. Revisions to WAC 220-95-100 and WAC 220-95-110 to Increase the Maximum Bid Price for Commercial Sea Cucumber and Sea Urchin Licenses – Rule Change Action
The Department requested a rule change to increase the maximum bid price for commercial sea cucumber and sea urchin licenses that the Commission was briefed on during the June 1 & 2, 2012 meeting.  Presented by Bob Sizemore, Research Scientist, Fish Program.

Chair Wecker moved, seconded by Commissioner Mahnken to make permanent amendments to WAC 220-95-100 and WAC 220-95-110 as recommended by department staff.  The motion carried unanimously. 

B. Minutes for Approval - Decision
The Commission considered approval of the following meeting minutes while expressing appreciation to staff for a job well done:

  • May 18, 2012 conference call
  • May 31, 2012 Mainstem Columbia River Fisheries Workshop
  • June 1 & 2, 2012 regular meeting minutes

Chair Wecker moved, seconded by Commissioner Jennings to approve the May 18, 2012 conference call; May 31, 2012 Mainstem Columbia River Fisheries Workshop; June 1 & 2, 2012 regular meeting minutes as presented.  The motion carried unanimously. 

C. General Discussion 
Commissioners and the Deputy Director discussed recent activities and items of interest:

  • ‘Link to Nature’ suggested as name for new committee
  • Community outreach radio interviews conducted by Dennis Beich – Okanogan County land acquisitions
  • Parks and Recreation Commission meeting - concern about reduction in youth participation
  • Black Hills Audubon Society – Need for non-consumptive users to participate more with WDFW (Discover Pass) and valuable agency resources they are interested in such as, staff speakers for meetings and youth camps
  • Meeting with Ferry, Pondera & Stevens County Commissioners and US Forest Service
  • Stevens County Walleye Club Meeting – Preparing for Governor’s Cup Tournament

Vice Chair Douvia adjourned the meeting at 8:46 am.
